Wilmington, OH – Central Ohio residents are preparing for a snowstorm expected to bring 2-4 inches of snow Friday afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, effective from 11 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, warning of potentially hazardous travel conditions.
According to the NWS office in Wilmington, snowfall will begin around 2 p.m. Friday, intensifying during the evening commute. Winds gusting up to 18 mph could reduce visibility, creating additional challenges on major roadways, including I-70, I-71, and I-75. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and allow extra travel time.
Temperatures will remain below freezing, with a high near 27 degrees Friday and overnight lows around 20 degrees. The snow is expected to taper off after midnight, leaving icy patches on untreated roads Saturday morning.
Looking ahead, Saturday will bring cloudy skies with a high of 26 degrees, followed by a brief warm-up Sunday, reaching a high of 30 degrees. Overnight lows will dip into the teens, ensuring icy conditions persist into early next week.
The NWS advises residents to prepare now by winterizing vehicles, keeping emergency kits handy, and staying updated on weather alerts. Wear layers and limit time outdoors to avoid hypothermia in the frigid temperatures.
