Columbus, Ohio – A slow-moving cold front will bring repeated showers and storms across Ohio starting Monday night, continuing through Friday, potentially causing rapid rises in river levels.

According to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, the approaching weather pattern promises widespread rainfall, with totals up to 1 inch expected across most regions within the next two days. Locally higher amounts are possible, contributing to rainfall accumulations between 1.5 and 2 inches through the end of the week.

Cities including Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton should prepare for wet and slick conditions throughout the week. Drivers on major thoroughfares, including Interstate 70, I-71, and I-75, should expect reduced visibility and possible standing water, increasing the likelihood of hydroplaning and hazardous driving conditions. Authorities urge motorists to slow down and allow extra travel time during periods of heavy rainfall.

Although river flooding is currently not anticipated, rapid river rises could occur, particularly in low-lying areas and near small streams.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on the latest weather alerts and consider flood preparedness measures, such as checking sump pumps and ensuring drainage paths are clear.

Rain and storm chances will linger throughout the week, with additional updates expected from the National Weather Service as conditions evolve.
