Cleveland, Ohio – Damaging winds and brief tornadoes are possible across Northern Ohio and parts of Northwestern Pennsylvania through 7 p.m. Thursday as a wide-reaching Severe Thunderstorm Watch blankets the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, the watch includes major cities such as Cleveland, Akron, Youngstown, and extends east into Erie and Meadville, Pennsylvania. The threat window is open now through 7 p.m. for areas west of I-77, and from 4 to 7 p.m. east of I-77.

Residents from Toledo to Ashtabula are urged to stay alert for downed trees, scattered power outages, and the potential for large hail. The strongest storms may trigger brief, weak tornadoes, especially in areas where wind shear is higher.

Travelers on I-90, I-76, and I-71 should expect rapidly changing conditions, while schools and businesses are encouraged to monitor local alerts. Secure outdoor items and charge phones and backup batteries before storms move in.

Warnings remain in effect through early evening, with more alerts possible as storms evolve. Stay connected to NOAA weather radio or mobile alerts for real-time updates.
