Cleveland, Ohio – Scattered severe thunderstorms could bring damaging winds, hail, and heavy rain to eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania as early as 4 p.m. Monday, potentially disrupting the evening commute and outdoor plans.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a slight risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe storms extends generally along and east of I-71, including Akron, Canton, and Youngstown. Areas west of I-71 remain under a marginal risk (Level 1), with storms expected to move northwestward through the evening. The window for the most intense weather runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Cities such as Mansfield, Warren, and Wooster should prepare for gusty winds and localized flooding, especially on low-lying roads. In western Pennsylvania, Erie and Meadville may also see strong cells developing later in the evening.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, charge mobile devices, and monitor alerts. Scattered power outages are possible due to downed trees or power lines.
Additional warnings may be issued as storms develop. Stay weather-aware, especially if traveling in eastern Ohio or along the Pennsylvania border.
