Paducah, KY – Residents in western Kentucky are on alert as the Ohio River continues to rise, prompting a flood warning through early Saturday. Officials warn that moderate flooding is ongoing, with the river expected to crest at 43.2 feet by Wednesday night before receding late Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, areas near the Ohio River, including Paducah, Smithland, and Cairo, will see high water levels impacting unprotected low-lying communities. Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roadways, and pedestrians should exercise caution near riverbanks. The flood stage for Paducah is 39 feet, meaning water levels are already significantly above the threshold.

Despite the flood risk, the extended forecast brings relief with mostly sunny conditions dominating the next few days.
