Wilmington, OH – Rainfall is set to return to Wilmington and surrounding areas late Wednesday night, with a strong chance of rain beginning after 10 p.m. This system could bring totals between half an inch to 1.5 inches by Thursday morning, potentially impacting road conditions, especially for commuters along I-71 and local highways.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the heaviest rain is expected during overnight hours Wednesday into early Thursday. With up to 1.5 inches of precipitation predicted, local drivers are urged to exercise caution as roads could become slick or temporarily flooded. The rain will likely taper off Thursday morning, but occasional light showers may linger throughout the day.

For Wednesday, the forecast indicates a high near 58 degrees with partly sunny skies during the day. Winds are expected to increase, reaching up to 14 mph from the southeast as the rain approaches. Temperatures will drop to a low of 44 degrees Wednesday night as rain intensifies, carrying a 90% chance of precipitation.

The outlook improves for the weekend, with partly sunny skies on Friday and highs near 54 degrees, followed by a warmer, sunny Saturday, reaching around 56 degrees. While Sunday brings another chance of rain, it’s expected to remain relatively light.

Residents in Wilmington and the broader southwest Ohio area are encouraged to check road conditions before traveling on Wednesday night and Thursday. Avoid areas prone to standing water and ensure vehicles are prepared for wet conditions.
