A cold front will cross western Pennsylvania today, bringing scattered showers through the region during the afternoon. Rain is expected along major highways such as I-76 and I-79, but accumulations will remain light, with most areas seeing less than a tenth of an inch. The showers will be brief, but residents should be aware of potentially slick roads during peak travel hours.

According to the National Weather Service, the rain will likely develop between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., with increasing cloud cover leading to cooler temperatures overnight. A chance of rain will persist into the evening, especially along the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. Saturday will bring relief, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 61°F.

Looking ahead, the weather in Pittsburgh will improve dramatically just in time for Halloween festivities. After a clear and cool weekend, sunny skies and mild temperatures in the mid-60s are expected through early next week. Trick-or-treaters can expect dry conditions next Thursday with a 30% chance of showers throughout the day, with temperatures forecasted in the low 70s during the day and cooling to the mid-50s by night.
