Pittsburgh, PA – Showers and thunderstorms could bring damaging wind gusts and localized flash flooding across western Pennsylvania by late Thursday afternoon, with the highest risks continuing overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Level 1 Marginal Risk is in effect for both severe weather and excessive rainfall across parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and northern West Virginia. Areas from Dubois to Morgantown are especially vulnerable, where repeated rounds of thunderstorms could drop heavy rain in short bursts, leading to rapid-onset flooding.

Cities including Pittsburgh, Butler, Latrobe, and Oil City should stay alert for scattered storms capable of producing wind damage and large hail. Though storms will not be constant, slow-moving cells may linger over the same areas, increasing the chance of flash flooding on low-lying roads and in urban centers.

Residents should avoid driving through flooded roadways, charge devices in case of outages, and ensure they’re signed up for weather alerts. Winds could bring down tree limbs or power lines during peak storm activity.

Storm chances persist into Friday, but forecasters say Saturday is trending drier.
