Pittsburgh, PA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, with freezing rain expected to create hazardous conditions overnight and into Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the advisory lasts from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday for northwest and western Pennsylvania, including Butler, Clarion, and Indiana counties. A separate advisory remains in place for east-central Ohio, southwest Pennsylvania, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia until 4 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters expect ice accumulation between one and two-tenths of an inch in Pennsylvania, with up to an inch of snow possible. In Ohio and West Virginia, a light glaze of ice is expected. Slippery roads, tree damage, and power outages are possible, with travel disruptions likely during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

Officials urge residents to exercise caution, limit travel, and report ice accumulations to the National Weather Service via social media or by phone.

Temperatures are expected to rise later Thursday, reducing the threat of additional ice accumulation.
