Cincinnati, Ohio – Ohio Valley residents are facing extreme heat stress through Tuesday evening, with heat index values topping 100°F across much of the state and little overnight relief expected.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from Sunday through Tuesday for central and southern Ohio, including Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, and surrounding counties. High temperatures will rise into the 90s, with humidity pushing “feels like” conditions over the 100°F mark for multiple days. Overnight lows will only fall into the mid-70s, providing minimal cooling.
The advisory covers a wide stretch from Lima to Portsmouth, impacting major corridors like I-71, I-75, and I-70. In far southeastern counties near Huntington, WV, an Excessive Heat Warning is also in effect. Vulnerable populations—including the elderly, infants, and outdoor workers—are especially at risk.
Officials urge residents to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, and avoid leaving children or pets in parked vehicles. Light, breathable clothing and checking on neighbors are strongly encouraged.
Heat-related alerts may be extended or upgraded depending on conditions. Stay updated through Tuesday night via local NWS and emergency services.
