Cleveland, OH – Ohio residents are facing continued flooding along the Scioto River and Killbuck Creek as water levels remain high due to recent heavy rainfall.
The National Weather Service extended flood warnings for two Ohio rivers on Monday evening. Minor flooding is forecast for both the Scioto River near Prospect, affecting Marion and Delaware counties, and Killbuck Creek near Killbuck, impacting Holmes and Wayne counties.
According to the National Weather Service, the Scioto River near Prospect is expected to reach flood stage, with water covering parts of River Road and Route 257 north of Route 36. The river is forecast to drop below flood stage by Tuesday afternoon. In Killbuck, floodwaters have already inundated private property and several roads, including State Route 60 south and County Road 621. This flood warning will remain in effect until Friday evening.
Motorists are urged to avoid driving around barricades or through flooded roads. “Turn around, don’t drown” remains a critical safety message as vehicles continue to be a leading cause of flood-related fatalities.
Additional updates will be issued on Tuesday morning. For more flood safety information, visit the National Weather Service website.
