Piketon, OH – Minor flooding continues to affect southern Ohio as the Scioto River at Piketon remains above flood stage, with impacts expected through early Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, the Scioto River at Piketon is currently at 23.6 feet, slightly above the flood stage of 20.0 feet. It is forecast to crest at 23.8 feet early Tuesday, before slowly receding below flood stage by Friday evening. Low-lying roads near the river, especially in Scioto and Camp Creek Townships, are seeing the most significant flooding.
In addition, the Great Miami River is still causing minor flooding near Middletown and Miamitown, with water levels expected to drop below flood stage by Tuesday afternoon.
Residents are urged to take precautions, including avoiding flooded roads, as driving through high water is dangerous and could result in fatalities.
