Cleveland, OH – Heavy snow and powerful winds up to 40 mph will create hazardous travel conditions across northern Ohio today. A cold front moving through the region will bring snow showers, rapidly dropping temperatures, and isolated squalls that could cause sudden visibility loss.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), westerly winds will peak at 30 to 40 mph through early afternoon, making road conditions treacherous. Drivers on I-90 and I-71 should prepare for possible whiteout conditions, especially in open areas. Sudden drops in visibility and slippery roads may lead to dangerous driving situations.

Tonight, snow showers will taper off, with temperatures falling into the low 20s. Winds will remain gusty, making it feel even colder. Thursday will bring a brief break, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 46°F, but more precipitation is expected Thursday night into Friday.

Rain and snow showers will return late Friday, with the potential for icy roads into the weekend. Travelers should check forecasts frequently and allow extra time for commutes.
