Wilmington, OH – Residents across southwestern Ohio should prepare for significant rainfall, expected to persist through Thursday evening, potentially bringing over an inch of precipitation to the region. The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued an advisory, urging residents to plan for wet and potentially hazardous road conditions. Rain is projected to reach Wilmington and surrounding areas, affecting travel on key roadways like I-71 and I-75.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rainfall will begin late tonight, with rain showers intensifying through Thursday afternoon and evening. Forecasts predict rain accumulation between 1 to 1.5 inches across the area, with higher totals possible in some spots. Residents are encouraged to drive cautiously, as pooling water may create slick roadways and increase the risk of hydroplaning, especially in low-lying areas prone to minor flooding.

Temperatures in Wilmington are expected to reach 55°F on Thursday, with a brisk southeast wind at 10-16 mph, gusting up to 26 mph. Showers may taper off Thursday night, though lingering wet roads and reduced visibility may still impact evening commutes. Friday is set to bring cooler and mostly cloudy conditions, with a high near 54°F, providing a brief respite from rain before temperatures drop further over the weekend.

Looking ahead, Saturday’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies with highs around 56°F, and Sunday may see a mild high of 60°F under partly sunny conditions. The start of next week appears dry and partly cloudy, offering residents a break from the rain. Nonetheless, given this week’s rain outlook, it’s wise for drivers and pedestrians alike to remain vigilant and monitor local forecasts.
