Chicago, IL – The National Weather Service Chicago reports that October 2025 brought warmer temperatures and drier conditions than usual across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana.

Data from O’Hare International Airport shows an average temperature of 66.1°F, about 3.4 degrees above normal, with 2.60 inches of precipitation—roughly 0.83 inches below average. In Rockford, the average temperature reached 67.4°F, 5.1 degrees above normal, while rainfall totaled only 1.40 inches, 1.23 inches below normal.

Maps released by the High Plains Regional Climate Center highlight widespread warm anomalies and below-normal precipitation across the region, consistent with a trend of milder and drier fall weather observed throughout much of the Midwest this year.

According to forecasters, this pattern has contributed to drier soil conditions and lower river levels, though the upcoming November outlook suggests seasonable temperatures and periodic rain chances may return mid-month.
