Spokane, WA – Northwestern Washington is under a frost alert this weekend, with freezing temperatures expected in several areas, including the northern valleys and the Palouse region. The National Weather Service warns that sensitive plants left outside could suffer frost or freeze damage starting Friday night and continuing through Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, locations such as Colville and Athol have a 50-55% chance of frost by Saturday morning. Athol could see freezing temperatures as early as Friday night, and temperatures are expected to remain cold through the weekend. Residents should act now to bring plants indoors or cover them to prevent damage.

Highs across the region will remain in the 50s during the day, with overnight temperatures dropping significantly, making frost a concern for early mornings, especially on Saturday and Sunday. Colville and Cusick are also at high risk, with a 55% and 40% chance of freezing temperatures, respectively.
