Erie, PA – Northwestern Pennsylvania is on alert for potentially severe thunderstorms on Sunday, with isolated tornadoes and large hail in the forecast. The National Weather Service (NWS) has placed the region under a Level 2 risk, warning that the storms could be strong and cause localized damage.

The storm system is expected to impact the area starting late Sunday afternoon, around 5 p.m., with storms continuing into the evening. The main threats include damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes. According to the NWS, the risk is greatest along a line from Cambridge Springs through Clarion.

Local authorities are urging residents to stay indoors once the storms begin and to ensure they have access to the latest weather alerts. “We are expecting quick-changing conditions, so it’s important that people have multiple ways to receive warnings,” the NWS advised.

The threat of large hail could lead to damage to homes, vehicles, and outdoor equipment, while strong winds may cause power outages. Northwestern Pennsylvania residents are urged to take precautions ahead of the approaching storm.
