CLEVELAND, OH — A windy and warm Halloween awaits Cleveland as a powerful cold front pushes through northern Ohio. With gusts potentially reaching 50 mph, the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the Cleveland area from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor objects and exercise caution if traveling on roads, especially with high-profile vehicles vulnerable to strong winds.
According to the National Weather Service, the cold front moving through today may bring afternoon rain showers, impacting trick-or-treat plans and making roads slick for evening commutes. Southwest winds of 14 to 22 mph, with gusts reaching 38 mph, could make driving hazardous along I-90 and other Cleveland-area routes. Motorists should be prepared for sudden gusts, particularly near open fields and overpasses.
Following the windy Halloween, Friday brings cooler conditions with partly sunny skies and highs near 55 degrees. Saturday should be mostly sunny with a high of 58, providing a calmer start to the weekend. However, the respite will be short-lived as rain chances return Sunday and continue into Monday, with temperatures hovering around the upper 50s to low 70s.
For Halloween festivities today, plan for rain gear and an early return as the heaviest showers are expected by evening. Secure Halloween decorations, and watch for falling branches, especially in areas already saturated from recent rains. With safety preparations in place, residents can still enjoy the festive day while staying weather-aware.
This week’s forecast highlights Cleveland’s typical fall variability, with strong gusts giving way to cooler, more stable weather as November begins.
