Cleveland, OH – A winter weather advisory will bring heavy lake effect snow to northeast Ohio beginning Friday evening and lasting through Saturday night. The advisory impacts Cuyahoga, Geauga, Ashtabula, and Lake counties, with snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches expected.

According to the National Weather Service, the snowfall will begin late Friday, intensify overnight, and continue into Saturday. Snowfall rates could reach up to one inch per hour in the most affected areas, especially near the I-90 corridor. Wind chills will dip into the single digits, with gusts up to 29 mph making roads icy and visibility low.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution, especially during the Friday evening and Saturday morning commutes. The Ohio Department of Transportation has issued a warning about slippery roads and reduced visibility. Travelers should allow extra time, avoid unnecessary travel, and check road conditions on OHGO.com.

Saturday’s high will reach only 29°F with lingering snow showers. By Sunday, skies will clear slightly, with a high of 26°F and bitterly cold overnight lows near 19°F. The start of next week remains cold, with a chance of mixed rain and snow showers by Monday afternoon. Christmas Day is forecast to be partly cloudy with a high near 41°F.

Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for real-time updates and prepare for winter driving conditions throughout the weekend.
