Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio residents should prepare for snow showers and icy conditions extending into early next week. Forecasters warn that a wintry mix is expected Sunday night into Monday, creating potential hazards for commuters.
According to the National Weather Service, 2 to 4 inches of snow is predicted across the region, with localized areas possibly receiving up to 5 inches. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for areas east of I-71 until 10 a.m. Saturday, while freezing rain is likely to develop late Sunday into Monday. This combination of snow and ice could create treacherous conditions on major roadways, including I-71 and I-90.
Saturday’s forecast calls for light snow showers tapering off by midday with temperatures hovering around 32°F. Sunday will bring a brief reprieve with partly sunny skies and highs near 33°F, but conditions will deteriorate late Sunday night as freezing rain begins to move in.
Looking ahead, Monday will see highs near 32°F with mixed precipitation continuing until midday. Snow showers are expected to persist into Tuesday, with highs only reaching 19°F.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution, especially during early morning hours when icy patches are most likely. Check road conditions before traveling and allow extra time for commutes.
