Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio residents should prepare for potentially severe weather as strong thunderstorms are expected to develop on Monday afternoon, continuing into the evening.

According to the National Weather Service Cleveland office, a cold front moving into the area will likely trigger isolated to scattered strong to severe thunderstorms. The storms are anticipated to bring damaging wind gusts and localized flooding due to heavy rainfall rates in slow-moving systems. The areas most at risk are north of U.S. Route 30, including Cleveland, Sandusky, and Toledo.

The NWS advises that showers and thunderstorms will begin ahead of the cold front Monday afternoon and persist into the evening hours. The main hazards associated with these storms are damaging wind gusts, which could down trees and power lines, and heavy rainfall, which could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas.
