Duluth, MN – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Northern Cook and Lake and Southern Cook Counties until midnight Tuesday night, bringing snow, gusty winds, and hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected, with localized totals reaching 6 inches in areas experiencing snow squalls. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, contributing to reduced visibility and icy roads. The advisory affects cities including Grand Marais and Isabella, as well as the Grand Portage Reservation and parts of the Boundary Waters.
The hazardous conditions are likely to impact both the morning and evening commutes on Tuesday. Snow squalls in the evening may rapidly reduce visibility to 1/4 mile or less, further increasing travel risks.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, monitor weather updates, and check Minnesota road conditions at 511mn.org before heading out. Prepare for slippery roads and possible delays.
The advisory is set to expire at midnight Tuesday, though conditions may remain challenging into the early hours of Wednesday. For more information, visit the National Weather Service’s Duluth page at weather.gov/duluth.
