Gaylord, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of Chippewa and Luce counties, with lake effect snow creating hazardous travel conditions through Wednesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, areas near and north of M-28, including Sault Ste. Marie and Sugar Island, could see an additional 1 to 4 inches of snow accumulation by 1 p.m. Wednesday. Meanwhile, Western Chippewa and Luce counties are under advisories until 5 a.m., with accumulations of up to 4 inches expected in localized areas.
Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are likely to become slick, and visibility may vary significantly in areas impacted by snow bands. Travelers are urged to exercise caution, slow down, and be prepared for sudden changes in road conditions.
The snow is expected to taper off by midday in most areas, though residual slick spots may persist into the afternoon hours.
