Gaylord, Michigan – Drivers and residents across Gaylord should prepare for breezy winds and scattered showers beginning Monday night, with gusts up to 35 mph expected by Tuesday morning. The storm system could cause hazardous travel early Tuesday as rain continues across Otsego County.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, a slight chance of showers will develop late Monday night, increasing to a 60% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms by early Tuesday. Winds will strengthen overnight, with sustained speeds between 15 and 20 mph and gusts peaking around 35 mph, especially near open areas and highways.

Localized impacts could affect U.S. Route 131 and M-32, where slick roads and reduced visibility could make morning commutes challenging. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, charge mobile devices in case of outages, and limit overnight travel if possible.

Temperatures will hover near 60°F during the rain event before dipping into the upper 20s Tuesday night, raising concerns for icy spots by Wednesday morning. This system marks one of the first significant storm threats of spring for northern Michigan, following a relatively mild start to April.

Showers are expected to clear by Tuesday afternoon, but officials warn that additional rain chances could return Wednesday night into Thursday.
