Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan faces dangerous winter conditions today as lake-effect snow and strong winds create hazardous travel. Drivers should prepare for low visibility and drifting snow, especially on rural roads.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Antrim, Otsego, Kalkaska, and Crawford counties until 4 p.m. today. Additional snowfall between 1 and 3 inches is expected, with gusty northwest winds up to 30 mph worsening conditions.
Thursday will bring partly cloudy skies with a high near 38°F, but Friday turns colder, with a high of 31°F and lows in the single digits. Another snow system may develop Saturday night, bringing fresh accumulation.
Officials urge residents to drive cautiously, allow extra travel time, and check local road conditions before heading out. Slow down and use caution, especially during the morning commute.
