Gaylord, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of northern Michigan, with significant snowfall expected through 4 a.m. Saturday.
The National Weather Service reports that areas including Chippewa, Antrim, Charlevoix, Crawford, Kalkaska, and Otsego counties could see snow accumulations ranging from 4 to 10 inches, with localized totals potentially exceeding that amount.
According to the advisory, hazardous travel conditions are anticipated, particularly during the Friday morning and evening commutes. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution, as snow-covered and slippery roads could make travel difficult.
In the Grand Traverse region, lighter snowfall of 2 to 5 inches is forecast, but slippery conditions are still expected, with impacts lasting through Friday evening.
Residents are advised to prepare for challenging conditions and allow extra time for travel. This system is expected to taper off early Saturday morning, with clearing skies likely improving conditions later in the weekend.
