Gaylord, Mich. – Wildfire smoke continues to linger across Northern Michigan today, casting a light haze over otherwise sunny skies and holding temperatures in the 70s through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, highs will range from 69°F to 80°F Thursday with smoke impacts keeping skies hazy but mostly clear. Air quality may be reduced, especially in rural and forested areas from Grayling to Petoskey.

Friday brings more clouds but steady temps near 77°F. Saturday should see slightly clearer skies with highs in the upper 70s, making it the best day for outdoor plans. By Sunday, clouds increase with a chance of rain returning by late evening—especially in coastal counties near Alpena and Traverse City.

Residents are encouraged to limit strenuous outdoor activity if sensitive to air quality issues. Keep windows closed and air filters running if possible. No severe weather is expected, but rain could bring needed relief to dry areas.

This pattern holds until late Sunday when showers may begin overnight. Updates will follow if conditions change or if smoke impacts worsen.
