Shreveport, LA – Northern Louisiana is bracing for a sharp temperature drop as a cold front sweeps through the region late Thursday into Friday morning. Areas along the I-20 corridor, including Shreveport, Monroe, and Texarkana, are expected to experience the season’s first freezing conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will fall to the low 50s tonight before dropping further to near 33°F by Friday morning in Shreveport. Outlying and rural areas could see temperatures dip below freezing. Residents are encouraged to insulate exposed pipes, cover outdoor plants, and ensure pets have adequate shelter as frost advisories are expected.
Thanksgiving Day will bring partly sunny skies with a high near 59°F, making for a crisp and pleasant holiday. However, by Friday evening, another round of cold air will move in, keeping lows near freezing. Saturday morning is also forecasted to bring frost, with temperatures lingering in the low 30s before warming slightly into the weekend.
Travelers should monitor road conditions, especially overnight, as frost could create slick spots. With sunny skies expected into Sunday, the weekend offers a chance to enjoy the cooler weather safely.
