Fort Wayne, IN – Residents in Fort Wayne should prepare for a dramatic drop in temperatures and snow showers starting late Tuesday. A strong cold front will bring freezing winds and potential snow accumulations by midweek, creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will peak near 45 degrees Tuesday before plunging into the 20s by evening. Lake-effect snow showers are expected Wednesday into Thursday, with wind chills dipping as low as -10°F to 10°F. Drivers should be cautious, especially along major routes like I-69, as icy conditions may develop overnight.

Tuesday night snow chances remain around 20%, increasing to 40% by Wednesday. Accumulation will stay light in most areas but could worsen near lake-effect zones. Thursday will bring the coldest air of the week, with highs in the teens and lows near 7°F, accompanied by gusty winds up to 25 mph.

By Friday, temperatures will recover slightly, with highs reaching the mid-20s under partly sunny skies. Snow chances return over the weekend, with a mix of rain and snow possible Saturday.
