Fort Wayne, Ind. – Thunderstorms are likely to sweep through Northern Indiana this evening, with another round of showers and possible severe storms on Tuesday that could affect afternoon travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, rain and thunderstorms are expected to move in after sunset Friday, bringing gusty winds and the chance of localized downpours. Temperatures will drop into the upper 40s by Saturday morning, with cooler and breezy conditions continuing through the weekend. Saturday highs will range from 49 to 61 degrees, and early morning frost is possible Sunday, especially in rural areas from LaGrange to Kosciusko counties.

Drivers should use caution on wet roads tonight and monitor local alerts for Tuesday’s storm potential, when temperatures will surge back into the upper 70s and low 80s. The National Weather Service warns the highest storm chances are Tuesday afternoon, with strong winds and heavy rain possible along US-30 and I-69 corridors.

Residents are encouraged to bring sensitive plants indoors Saturday night and to secure outdoor items ahead of gusty winds. Power outages and minor flooding can’t be ruled out if storms become severe on Tuesday.

The unsettled pattern is expected to break by midweek, with additional updates likely as the next round of storms approaches. Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday evening.
