Fort Wayne, Indiana – Isolated severe thunderstorms could roll through northern Indiana by 2 p.m. Wednesday, bringing damaging wind gusts and heavy rain as a slow-moving cold front pushes through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, storms will begin developing from northwest to southeast this afternoon and evening, with scattered showers and thunderstorms continuing intermittently through Friday. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather remains in effect today across much of the state, especially near U.S. Route 24 and into northeastern Indiana.

Cities including Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Warsaw should prepare for potential power outages, tree damage, and rapidly reduced visibility during downpours. Tonight’s storms may include embedded thunder and lightning, with temperatures falling into the low 60s. By Thursday, showers and a few storms will persist mainly in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during storms, and stay weather-aware as conditions evolve.

Severe weather risks remain through Friday, with additional alerts possible.
