Elkhart, Indiana – A Frost Advisory is in effect for much of northern Indiana and southwest Michigan tonight, with temperatures expected to dip into the mid-30s by 2 a.m. Sunday. According to the National Weather Service, the cold temperatures will create conditions for frost to form, potentially harming sensitive outdoor vegetation.

The advisory, which lasts from 2 a.m. EDT (1 a.m. CDT) to 8 a.m. EDT (7 a.m. CDT), includes areas such as Elkhart, St. Joseph, and portions of Berrien and Hillsdale counties. While cloud cover may slow down the cooling process, frost is still likely in unprotected areas.

Residents in affected regions are urged to take action to protect tender plants. Those with gardens or landscaping should bring plants indoors or cover them to prevent frost damage. While the cloud cover may reduce frost formation, the risk is still present, especially in areas where temperatures reach the lower 30s.

The advisory is expected to end by 8 a.m. Sunday, but further updates may be issued if conditions change.
