Fort Wayne, Ind. – Thunderstorms developing around 2 a.m. Easter Sunday could knock out power across parts of northern Indiana as strong winds and lightning sweep through the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, a line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move in overnight, with the most intense activity likely between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday. Gusts may reach 20 mph, and isolated storms could become severe, potentially leading to downed power lines and brief outages across Allen, DeKalb, and Noble counties.
Residents in Fort Wayne, Auburn, and Kendallville should prepare for overnight disruptions. Secure outdoor items, fully charge devices, and avoid travel during early morning hours if possible. The storms may continue into Sunday afternoon with lighter showers tapering off by evening.
This marks one of the first significant thunderstorm events of the spring for the region. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, isolated strong cells could cause localized damage.
Showers are likely to return again Monday before drier conditions arrive Tuesday. More updates are expected overnight as storm activity approaches. Warnings may be issued with little notice.
