Logansport, IN – A line of strong to severe thunderstorms brought damaging winds and two confirmed tornadoes to northern Indiana on the evening of March 19, disrupting areas in Cass and Miami counties.

According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, two EF-0 tornadoes briefly touched down Wednesday evening. The first tornado struck near Logansport in Cass County between 7:54 and 7:55 p.m., with peak winds estimated at 65 mph. It traveled just under a mile, damaging trees, fences, and a TV tower northeast of the Cass County Airport.

A second EF-0 tornado was recorded near the Akron and Macy area in southern Fulton County around 7:20 p.m., lasting approximately three minutes and covering 2.7 miles with a maximum width of 100 yards. Damage was primarily limited to snapped tree limbs and scattered debris.

Emergency officials noted no injuries or fatalities from either event. The storms were part of a high-shear, low-instability setup that led to isolated tornado development and widespread wind damage.
