Fort Wayne, Indiana – Drivers across northeast Indiana could encounter slick conditions this morning as overnight downpours caused minor ponding on roadways. While rain is expected to taper off by midday, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms may redevelop later this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, areas south of US 24 have a chance of evening showers tonight, with Friday bringing additional isolated storms—especially south of US 6. Rain chances remain high in Fort Wayne (60%) and exceed 70% in cities like Lima, Ohio, and Van Wert, Ohio.

Localized flooding isn’t expected to be severe, but standing water could cause hydroplaning or minor travel delays. Commuters should reduce speed in low-lying areas and stay alert for changing road conditions. Temperatures will stay seasonably warm, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the mid-60s overnight.

Periodic rainfall is expected to continue through Friday evening. Additional alerts may be issued if storms intensify or rainfall totals increase across the region.
