Northern Indiana, IN – Northern Indiana is preparing for additional showers and thunderstorms, expected to intensify into Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a marginal risk alert for severe storms, particularly in areas south of US-24.
According to the NWS Northern Indiana office, storms will begin Monday evening and continue overnight. Residents should prepare for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Tuesday, with isolated strong storms possible in the afternoon and early evening. Some storms could bring winds up to 60 mph and hail up to one inch in diameter.
Rainfall amounts are predicted to range between 0.5 and 1 inch across the region. Isolated locations may see heavier rainfall. The main threat window for severe storms is between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.
