Fort Wayne, IN – Northern Indiana is experiencing worsening drought conditions this week, coupled with temperatures 15 degrees above average. The U.S. National Weather Service forecasts highs reaching between 84 to 90 degrees through Saturday. Fort Wayne and surrounding areas are expected to be hit hardest by the hot, dry conditions.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, patchy dense fog is likely Thursday morning, especially north of Fort Wayne. While the fog could cause brief visibility issues, the real concern is the ongoing drought. The forecast predicts no rain until next week, worsening conditions for local farmers and residents.

The heat wave will persist through the week, with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday seeing temperatures in the upper 80s. A few sprinkles are possible near Lake Michigan on Friday, but these will offer little relief. The lack of rain and high temperatures create concerns for crops and local water supplies.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated and monitor local weather updates. The U.S. National Weather Service will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
