Chicago, IL – Residents of northern Illinois, including Chicago, can expect a wet and stormy weekend as periods of showers will dominate the weather today, with thunderstorms predicted for tonight and Saturday morning. According to the US National Weather Service, rain showers will persist through Friday, transitioning into widespread thunderstorms late in the evening.

Forecasters warn that some storms could be severe, featuring gusty winds and heavy downpours. The stormy conditions are expected to continue into early Saturday, with cooler and drier weather anticipated by Sunday. However, beachgoers should be cautious as breezy north winds are likely to create dangerous swimming conditions along Lake Michigan on Sunday.

Temperatures will vary significantly throughout the weekend. Today, highs will range between 79-85°F with lows around 68-72°F. Saturday’s temperatures will peak between 85-88°F, with overnight lows dropping to 55-61°F. Sunday will bring cooler weather, with highs reaching 68-75°F and lows between 50-57°F.
