The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a wind advisory, warning residents to secure outdoor objects and drive with caution, particularly on west-to-east roads.
According to the NWS Chicago office, winds will intensify late this morning and persist until around sunset. The strongest gusts are expected between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. CDT, with the southwest winds potentially causing hazardous conditions for high-profile vehicles and unsecured items.
Residents are urged to take precautions, including securing lightweight outdoor furniture and decorations. Drivers should remain vigilant in open and exposed areas where strong gusts may make maneuvering difficult.
