Eureka, CA – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall to Northern Trinity County, with travel conditions expected to become hazardous early Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. PST Friday. The storm will primarily impact areas above 3,000 feet, including portions of Highway 3 between Weaverville and Trinity Center, where 4 to 8 inches of snow are expected. Scott Mountain Pass could see over a foot of snow, while Buckhorn Summit and Oregon Mountain may receive 2 to 5 inches. Weaverville itself could experience a brief period of heavy, wet snow early Friday.

Travel will be dangerous, especially on bridges and overpasses. Drivers are advised to carry emergency supplies, allow extra travel time, and avoid sudden braking or acceleration. Officials urge delaying travel if possible, as visibility and road conditions could deteriorate quickly.
