Eureka, CA – A significant winter storm is set to impact Northern California, with snowfall and high winds expected across Trinity, Humboldt, Mendocino, and Lake counties through Friday evening. Motorists should prepare for hazardous road conditions as snowfall accumulations could reach up to 10 inches in higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Eureka, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM PDT Thursday for areas above 2000 to 3000 feet, where up to 4 inches of additional snowfall is anticipated. A Winter Storm Watch follows from Thursday night through Friday evening, with heavy snow and wind gusts up to 40 mph expected.

Affected areas include Trinity County, Del Norte Interior, Northern Humboldt Interior, and portions of Mendocino and Lake counties. Communities such as Weaverville, Hayfork, Hoopa, Willow Creek, Laytonville, and Lakeport should prepare for accumulating snowfall and difficult travel conditions. Major highways impacted include Highways 3, 36, 101, 199, and 299, where slippery roads and reduced visibility may create dangerous driving conditions.
