Reno, Nevada – Snow-covered roads and gusty winds will continue to create difficult travel conditions across portions of northeastern California through Monday morning as a lingering winter system affects the Sierra and nearby high terrain.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Lassen, eastern Plumas, and eastern Sierra counties through Monday morning. Snow is expected mainly above 5,000 feet, with totals ranging from 3 to 7 inches and localized amounts up to 12 inches west of Highway 395. Areas along and east of Highway 395 can expect lighter accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, though slick conditions are still likely.

Communities including Susanville, Westwood, Loyalton, Sierraville, and Portola may see snow-covered roads, reduced visibility, and periods of blowing snow as winds gust up to 35 mph. Gusty conditions could also bring down tree branches, creating isolated hazards for drivers and utilities.

Travel impacts are expected to continue through Sunday and into the Monday morning commute, especially on mountain roads and passes where snow accumulation is greatest. Drivers should anticipate slow travel and changing conditions, particularly during early morning hours.

Motorists are urged to slow down, carry winter driving supplies, and check road conditions before heading out. Snow showers should gradually taper Monday morning, though lingering slick spots could remain even after precipitation ends. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions persist longer than expected.
