Eureka, CA – A series of winter weather alerts remain in effect for Northern California, with snowfall and gusty winds expected to impact travel through Friday evening.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Eureka, a Winter Weather Advisory is currently active in Trinity, Mendocino, Lake, Del Norte, and Humboldt counties. The advisory remains in effect through Thursday evening, with snow accumulations of up to 4 inches above 3,000 feet in Trinity County and up to 2 inches above 2,000 feet in Mendocino and Lake counties. Lower valleys may see a light dusting of snow overnight.

A Winter Storm Watch is also in place from late Thursday night through Friday evening for higher elevations. Trinity County could see up to 10 inches of snowfall, while Mendocino and Lake counties may receive up to 6 inches. Del Norte and Humboldt counties are forecasted to see 2 to 6 inches above 1,500 feet. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions, particularly on highways 3, 36, 299, and 101.

Drivers are advised to use caution, as road conditions may become slippery and visibility could be reduced. The NWS recommends delaying travel if possible and checking road conditions by calling 511. Residents are urged to dress warmly in layers and take precautions against hypothermia.

Updates on the storm’s progress can be monitored through the National Weather Service and local authorities.
