Sacramento, CA – A midweek storm system is expected to bring rain and isolated thunderstorms to Northern California beginning Wednesday, with weather impacts continuing through Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service Sacramento, the system will primarily affect the northern Sacramento Valley and surrounding foothills, where residents can expect scattered rain showers and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms beginning early Wednesday, March 26, and tapering off by Friday morning, March 28.
Rainfall totals across the region will vary, with most areas receiving between 0.25 to 0.75 inches, while localized areas near Redding and Chico could see up to 1.5 inches. Motorists should prepare for slick roads during commutes, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday as precipitation increases.
Snow levels are projected to start at elevations between 7,500 and 8,000 feet Wednesday before dropping to around 5,000 feet by Thursday night. While valley areas will see little to no snow accumulation, higher elevations like Lassen National Forest and nearby peaks may experience some snow.
Residents are advised to monitor local alerts and use caution when traveling in affected areas. Avoid driving through flooded roadways and ensure emergency kits are up to date in case of localized hazards.
