Green Bay, WI – Drivers across northeast Wisconsin should prepare for dense fog and slick roads on Friday morning, making travel hazardous. Visibility could drop to less than a quarter-mile, and untreated roads may become icy from freezing drizzle.
According to the National Weather Service, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until noon on Friday for much of central, north-central, and northeast Wisconsin, including Green Bay. Rain is expected to develop by the afternoon, compounding poor travel conditions. The combination of low visibility and freezing drizzle could disrupt holiday travel, particularly along major roadways like Interstate 43 and U.S. Highway 41.
Temperatures will climb into the low 40s on Friday, potentially improving icy road conditions later in the day. However, patchy fog and light rain are expected to persist into the evening, with wind gusts reaching up to 22 mph. Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra stopping distance.
Looking ahead, rain will continue overnight into Saturday morning before clearing later in the day. Weekend travelers can expect patchy fog on Saturday morning and mostly cloudy skies with highs near 44°F by afternoon. Sunday brings calmer weather with dry conditions and highs around 40°F, offering relief for those heading home after the holiday.
By Monday, sunny skies and a high of 40°F are expected, signaling the end of this week’s unsettled weather. For the latest updates on road conditions, check with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation or your local weather authority.
Stay cautious and plan accordingly as weather conditions evolve.
