Tulsa, OK — A winter storm is bringing heavy snow, freezing rain, and dangerously low wind chills to northeast Oklahoma, making travel hazardous through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a winter storm warning remains in effect until 3 a.m. Wednesday, with snow accumulations between 4 and 12 inches expected, along with ice accumulations near one-tenth of an inch. Gusty north winds will create blowing snow and near-blizzard conditions, especially near the Oklahoma-Kansas border, making travel on major routes like I-44 dangerous.

Temperatures will plummet further Wednesday night, with wind chill values as low as -15°F, triggering an extreme cold warning from 6 p.m. Wednesday to noon Thursday. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, dress in layers, and ensure pipes are protected from freezing.

By Friday, temperatures will begin to rise, with highs near 29°F and clearer skies heading into the weekend. Motorists should check okRoads.org for updated travel conditions and remain cautious during commutes.
