CLEVELAND, OH – Strong winds are sweeping across northeast Ohio today, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, prompting a Wind Advisory through 7 p.m. Friday. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Cleveland, affects multiple counties, including Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, and Erie. Residents should prepare for possible power outages and hazardous travel, especially along I-90, I-71, and other major highways.

According to NWS Cleveland, southwest winds of 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, will persist throughout the day. Drivers of high-profile vehicles should exercise caution, as strong gusts may make steering difficult, particularly on open stretches of highway. Loose outdoor objects should be secured to prevent damage.

Looking ahead, conditions will shift on Saturday, March 1, as colder air moves in. A chance of snow showers will develop in the morning, with blustery conditions continuing. Temperatures will drop significantly, with a high of only 26°F and wind chills making it feel even colder.

By Sunday, March 2, the region will see partly sunny skies with lingering snow showers possible early in the day. Highs will remain below freezing at 28°F, marking a sharp contrast to today’s milder conditions.

As the new week begins, temperatures will start to rebound, reaching 42°F on Monday, with mostly sunny skies. However, rain returns Tuesday into Wednesday, with the potential for significant precipitation midweek.

Residents are urged to stay updated on local forecasts and secure outdoor items to prevent wind damage.
