Grand Forks, ND – Dense fog is blanketing northeastern North Dakota this morning, significantly reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less. Commuters are advised to drive cautiously, as the fog is expected to persist until late morning, especially along I-29 and within the Sheyenne River Valley area.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the fog began forming early this morning and will expand through northeastern North Dakota. Visibility will be extremely limited, creating hazardous conditions for drivers, especially on major routes and in rural areas. Those commuting to work, running errands, or heading to polling locations for Election Day should allow extra travel time and keep headlights on low beam to enhance visibility.

Following the fog, the forecast for Grand Forks shows mostly cloudy skies today with a high near 43°F, followed by a mild night with temperatures dropping to 28°F. Wednesday brings continued cloud cover with a high around 42°F and light north-northwest winds of 3 to 7 mph. The area is expected to see sunnier skies by Thursday, with temperatures rising to 46°F and a gentle southwest wind, providing a clear break from the current foggy conditions.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday and Saturday will stay sunny, with highs reaching 51°F to 53°F, though a slight chance of rain returns Saturday evening. Sunday’s temperatures will remain mild, peaking around 52°F, with a low chance of additional rain. Voters heading out today should be prepared for varying conditions, and drivers are encouraged to stay cautious throughout the morning fog and remain attentive to changing visibility.
