Albuquerque, NM – A potent cold front is sweeping across New Mexico, bringing snow, icy winds, and the coldest temperatures of the season. Snowfall between 2 to 5 inches is expected along the Colorado border, with temperatures plummeting into single digits by Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow will begin this afternoon, intensifying into the evening across northeastern areas, including Raton and Las Vegas. Low temperatures will dip to 4°F in higher elevations and around 15°F in Albuquerque. Travelers along I-25 are urged to prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility.

Tuesday’s daytime high in Albuquerque is forecasted at 43°F, dropping to a frigid 14°F overnight. Sunny skies are expected to return midweek, with gradual warming into Thursday. Wednesday and Thursday highs are projected at 49°F and 54°F, respectively. However, nighttime temperatures will remain well below freezing.

Residents should secure outdoor plants, ensure pets have adequate shelter, and exercise caution during evening commutes. The National Weather Service warns of freezing conditions persisting through Tuesday night, with a chance of snow returning late next week.
