Dallas, TX – North Texas residents should brace for significant winter weather later this week, with heavy snow and ice expected across the region.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch on Tuesday, forecasting snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and up to one-tenth of an inch of ice. The storm is expected to begin late Wednesday night, intensify Thursday, and taper off Friday afternoon.

According to the advisory, roadways, especially bridges and overpasses, could become extremely hazardous. Travel may be difficult or even impossible in some areas, with significant disruptions anticipated for Thursday’s commutes.

Emergency officials recommend delaying non-essential travel. For those who must venture out, carrying a winter storm kit is advised. Suggested items include blankets, water, flashlights, and a first-aid kit.

This storm marks one of the most significant winter weather events in recent years for the Dallas-Fort Worth area and surrounding communities. Residents are urged to prepare now by securing food, water, and heating supplies and monitoring local forecasts for updates.

Stay informed and plan ahead to remain safe during the storm.
